From living abroad in London to California dreamin’ in sunny San Diego, Lara is right at home as Store Manager in Carlsbad.
Tell us more about your journey with Anthropologie.
My husband and I had been living abroad in London and traveling for a few years when the California sun came calling. We decided to move back to San Diego where I am from. I knew the moment we decided to move back that I wanted to try and work for Anthro.
I was hired as the Assistant Store Manager in October 2014 in Carlsbad. The opportunity came in August 2015 to step into an Acting Store Manager role at Fashion Valley in San Diego. That role was short and sweet as I was offered my dream job as Store Manager back in Carlsbad which is where I have been since!
What is your favorite aspect of Anthropologie?
The people that Anthropologie attracts both employees and customers make it an amazing place to work. The relationships and bonds that we create in our stores are unlike any other company I have worked for.
What is your favorite Anthropologie store?
This is so hard because every store has been amazing in its own way! Whenever I travel one of my favorite things to do is visit other Anthropologies. I think my current store Carlsbad has to be my favorite. It holds a special place in my heart, it was the first store I started shopping at so it has come full circle for me being the Store Manager there. We recently went through a large remodel and expansion and the reaction from our local customers has never made me more proud to be a part of that store.
Why did you choose to work at Anthropologie?
When I was living in San Francisco I was working for another retailer across the street. I found myself escaping into Anthro on my lunch breaks. I fell in love with everything they did and represented as a brand. I wanted to work for a company that I felt was a reflection of who I was as a person.
Wanderlust keeps us inspired… Do you have any recent favorite travels to share?
My husband and I have been so lucky to be able to travel quite a bit around the world. This past year I went to Nicaragua, Mexico and England. I feel a sense of freedom and inspiration from being able to experience other cultures, I come back feeling so refreshed and inspired.
Anything else that you’d like to share?
I have to give a shout out to my team! They are the most incredible people to work with. They make what I do every day so worth it!
