Meet Heidi – Senior Visual Manager. NYC, Montreal, Chicago and now Portland, ME… From part-time Holiday Sales Associate to Senior Visual Manager, Heidi has experienced some fascinating cities during her journey with Anthropologie.
Tell us more about you and your journey with Anthropologie.
I’ve been with the brand 6 ½ years. I’ve had a really unique journey with Anthropologie, one that has given me the opportunity to live and work in many different places. It all started in New York City in 2010 when I became a holiday Seasonal Sales Associate at the store in Rockefeller Center. Shortly thereafter, I was promoted to Senior Sales Associate and then became a Supervisor.
After a year in NYC, my husband and I decided to move to Montreal because I had the opportunity to be the Visual Manager at the first store in Quebec. Three years later, I was promoted as the Senior Visual Manager of the store on Chicago Avenue—so my husband and I packed our bags and we were on the move again! Only a month after I arrived in Chicago, I was offered a District Visual Manager position in the Midwest, which was an incredibly rewarding experience.
The last leg of my travels with the brand has brought me back home to Maine, where I am currently the Senior Visual Manager of the Portland store.
What is your favorite aspect of Anthropologie?
Hands down, the people! Anthropologie has given me the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most talented and creative people—many of which have become lifelong friends.
What is your favorite Anthropologie store and why?
This is a tough question for me to answer because every store that I’ve worked in has some sentimental attachment. The Montreal store is really near and dear to my heart and architecturally it is definitely one of my favorites. My current store is one of the smallest in the company and that presents its own unique set of challenges, but visually speaking, it has been an amazing place to work.
Why did you choose to work at Anthropologie?
I have always wanted to work in a place that challenged my creativity. Leaving college as a Studio Art major, I was concerned about finding a career that I not only felt passionately about, but one that was visually fulfilling. Anthropologie has been all of these things and more and I feel really lucky to have found my place here.
Wanderlust keeps us inspired… Do you have any recent favorite travels to share?
My most recent travels include frequent trips to Montreal to visit family and exploring more of Maine whenever I can. This June, I am heading to Provence for two weeks to spend time with my husband and soon-to-be baby girl. It will be the perfect post-pregnancy trip and I am really looking forward to all of the French wine, cheese and charcuterie!
