Tell us more about you and your journey with Anthropologie.
Before I was hired by Anthropologie, I was a loyal customer like so many others. I started my career here 5 years ago as a part-time Visual Sales Associate at the Rockefeller Center store in New York City. After a short time, I became one of the Apparel Merchandisers for that store. A year later, I transferred down south to my home roots in Texas. I joined the Austin Downtown team as the Assistant Visual Manager and shortly thereafter became the Visual Manager. I have called the Austin Downtown store home for 4 years. I have also been a part of the apparel committee for the Home Office, opened a handful of stores around the U.S., and I am currently a lead for new store openings. If you can’t find me at the store, I’m either hanging with my corgi Penny or playing kickball!
I am proud to say that I have my dream job, and I pinch myself every day that I get to work with this company and such inspiring people!
What is your favorite aspect of Anthropologie?
To name only one aspect of Anthropologie that I love is too hard, but to narrow it down, it’s about the people--both our talented staff and our customers. I’m humbled to work with such talented colleagues who inspire our customers and me every day. They challenge me to be a better leader, teacher, creator, and peer. Without our people and customers, we wouldn’t be the brand that we are today.
Do you have a favorite Anthropologie store?
My favorite store is one that recently opened. I had the amazing opportunity to be a New Store Opening Lead for the first Anthropologie & Co. in Walnut Creek, CA. This store was a dream and large endeavor for the company to bring to life, and it was an unforgettable experience in my Anthropologie career. Everything from the store design, visual displays and presentations, to the store team and traveling team, it was all inspiring and unforgettable. To have a hand in the start of a new store is an honor and it reaffirms my love for my job and this company every time.
Why did you choose to work at Anthropologie?
I was the typical Anthropologie customer for years. While I had never worked in retail, my job in corporate fashion at the time was not fulfilling my passion for creativity. Anthropologie was a dream that I never thought could happen, until the day I received that call from the Rockefeller Center store. I took a leap of faith, didn’t look back and joined the Anthro family! I knew from day one this was where I was meant to be. The customer who day-dreamed about working at a store had finally made it a reality. Anthropologie allows us to be innovators, celebrates creativity, and thinks outside the box. The idea of working with a company that stands out and challenges creative minds was an exciting opportunity.
Wanderlust keeps us inspired… Do you have any recent favorite travels to share?
My favorite excursion was my first trip outside of the U.S. For my 25th birthday, my sister and I traveled to Paris. We arrived in Paris on the morning of my birthday and from there it was a celebration everyday! I remember carefully selecting an Anthropologie dress to wear on the special day that was inspired by Carrie Bradshaw’s dress in Sex In the City when she visits Paris. I’ve never felt more captivated by a city and culture than when I experienced Paris.
